Multibaseline SAR Interferometry for Automatic DEM Reconstruction

ثبت نشده
چکیده

Multibaseline SAR interferometry can be successfully exploited for automatic phase unwrapping and high quality Digital Elevation Model (DEM) reconstruction. The information coming from several interferograms with different baselines increases the elevation ambiguity interval and allows automatic phase unwrapping. The height of each pixel in the image is considered as a random variable: a Maximum Likelihood (ML) estimation of the height is carried out by exploiting the probability density function of the interferometric phase, that depends on the local coherence value. Atmospheric effects are taken into account and considered as a low frequency distortion (with correlation length greater than 1-2 km) of the phase to height conversion function for each interferogram. After the phase unwrapping step is possible to combine all the information available getting a combined DEM that is more reliable than each single DEM. Finally, using multiple images is possible to produce high resolution coherence maps (i.e. an ensemble average is used instead of a space average) that show what actually remains unchanged within all images. Results obtained using ERS-1 data of the area of Bonn (3 days repeat cycle) and Tandem data of two italian volcanos (Vesuvius and Etna) are presented.

Adaptive Spectral Estimation for Multibaseline SAR Tomography with Airborne L-band Data

In the recent years there has been growing interest in exploiting multibaseline (MB) SAR interferometry in a tomographic framework, to produce full 3D imaging e.g. of forest layers. However, Fourier-based MB SAR tomography is generally affected by unsatisfactory imaging quality due to a typically low number of baselines and their irregular distribution. In this work, we apply the more modern ad...

Sar Clinometry- and Interferometry-derived Dem Reconstruction

The remote sensing technique has been widely applied in global topographic survey, e.g., for computing a digital elevation model (DEM). The synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is able to perform a synoptic monitoring of the Earth under all-weather and day-and-night conditions. Among the SAR-derived DEM reconstruction techniques, four different methods, i.e., clinometry, grammetry, interferometry and...

Multibaseline Polarimetric Sar Interferometry Forest Height Inversion Approaches

Polarimetric SAR interferometry (Pol-InSAR) is a radar remote sensing technique that is sensitive to the vertical distribution of scattering processes in volumes. The Random Volume over Ground (RVoG) model is a powerful tool used to invert forest height from PolInSAR data. But Pol-InSAR inversion performance depends critically on uncompensated decorrelation contributions (i.e. temporal decorrel...

Application of Array Processing Techniques in Multibaseline Insar for High-resolution Dem Reconstruction

This work is concerned with generating the digital elevation models (DEMs) from the SAR images of the region of interest using multiple sensor arrays that are fixed on the distributed satellites. We present an exact estimate of the unwrapped phase and the relationship between the unwrapped phase and the terrain height. The optimum scheme that jointly processes the signals from all sensors is ba...
